BUCHI A Filipino Dessert

If you love Asian foods, or Pacific islander foods, and here I go with saying or again, or southern fried foods, you'll love Filipino foods, especially the deep fried varieties.

In this blog post I'll give you a recipe for a deep fried sensation called Buchi.

Ingredients

1 cup uncooked rice, not cooked
1/2 cup mongo beans
Sugar
Water
Oil to deep fry

Directions

1. Soak the rice in water overnight, and grind it in a food processor, and wrap it with cheesecloth, and hang it to drip dry.

2. Add water to a pot, enough to boil the mongo beans, once softened, remove any impurities, and mash it like mashed potatoes.

3. Dissolve about 1/2 cup of brown sugar, in a little water, then add this to the mashed mongo beans, then cook it over medium heat until liquid is evaporated. Let it cool down, and then shape the mixture into small round balls, then place to the side.

4. Dissolve about 2 tablespoons of sugar into 2 tablespoons of water, then add to the dry ground rice, and mash and form into small balls.

5. Then flatten each ball of rice dough, then spread it out thinly. Then place a ball of mongo on top of the rice dough, then slowly wraps to form a shape of a round ball.

6. Heat oil over medium-high heat and fry each ball until golden. Serve hot.

Before frying if you want a cool effect roll each ball into some sesame seeds.
