This is a post on dealing with gout if you need to eat out. First remember what foods trigger your gout, and what foods are high in purines, the cause of uric acid that hits the joints that causes ultimate pain! So was crab meat the culprit? OK, easy, stay away from crab, or for that matter, shrimp, lobster, any shell fish. But hey pork doesn't give you gout yay! Then you can eat pork, just remember that pork, or the real fatty parts are not good.
But let's just eat healthy, seriously, let's pretend I'm taking you out for lunch. It's a hot August day, and we are in Lahaina. Lahaina in the summer time is totally hot, like a sweat box, some folks can't handle Lahaina, while people from Florida or Louisiana laugh at us saying, "You don't know what humid and hot really is." OK, I get it, it's hotter there than Lahaina, but we got our share of heat. So again, let's pretend, we gout sufferers are going to eat healthy. Where would I take you? Well since it's hot, we don't want hot foods, we want something cool to eat and drink.
I'll take you to Kimo's on Front Street.
On the menu for lunch, I will suggest these for you, and it should be safe for the gout action.

As you can gather, I didn't choose any kalua pork, or any kind of crab meat or shrimp. The stuff I picked really isn't boring food. Kimo's does food right, it's fresh, and tasty all the time. And we get to sit close to the water if there's a table, we can look out into the blue Pacific Ocean, watch the boats go by, the south swell coming in, Lanai Island in the distance. This is really healthy stuff my friends, good food for the soul, heart healthy, and just a feel good day all around, can I get an amen? Amen! Thank God for good food at Kimo's, we can eat and not worry about gout. Is this a Yay Yay :) thing? Yeah it is Yay Yay :)!
